This full day tour will
show you: The Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera Museums, which were also places
where they spend most of their lives and the Dolores Olmedo Museum. Mexico
City is one vibrant city just like this incredible Mexican woman called it
her home. Come along with us for a visit to Frida Kahlo’s blue house and
her neighborhood in Coyoacan, the Blue House, and other special places in
Mexico City. We will start in the charming 16th century former town of
Coyoacan, a southwestern suburb of Mexico City This is Frida's home-town,
where she was born in 1907 and also lived here for her last 13 years in
“The Blue House”. Coyoacan remains a delightful place, outside the urban
sprawl of Mexico City . It is close to the University city, featuring
narrow, colonial-era streets, Cafes and a Bohemian atmosphere. The Plaza
Hidalgo, Coyoacan's central plaza, and its lovely gardens, the magnificent
Parish Church of Saint John the Baptist and its incredible paintings that
draw strollers who enjoy the musicians, crafts markets and mimes who set
up here making it one of the best walking areas of the world. The Frida
Kahlo Museum (Blue House) includes many personal items of Frida Kahlo and
Diego Rivera as well as a collection of art from then and from famous
friends of theirs. The museum also keeps Frida Kahlo´s personal collection
of prehispanic art. We will also visit the Dolores Olmedo Museum. To meet
Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo’s most important collections at worldwide
level, In addition to interesting engravings of Angelina Beloff who was
the sentimental Companion of Diego Rivera during his stay in Europe- as
well as important collections of pre-Hispanic, popular and colonial art
pieces that complete the pile. Frida is alive and well in her self
portrait paintings and we can think of no better way to learn and
understand about her and her life rather than going through the artwork
shown here. We continue Visiting Diego Rivera’s Studio-Museum The museum
is integrated by the houses of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, designed and
constructed from 1929 to 1932 by Juan O’ Gorman in San Angel, another
famous Mexican painter and architect, whose work represent the first
modern houses ever build in Mexico. The museum exhibits paintings,
prehispanic pieces, popular art, photos, documents, personal objects and
different works of both artists, as well as the original house plans from
Juan O’Gorman. In the early evening we'll return to your hotel. Note: This
tour requires at least 2 passengers. In the unlikely event of a
cancellation, a refund will be provided. |
